+ OUR VISION +

IN-ORBIT DEMONSTRATOR

We’ve already agreed a launch for our first In-Orbit Demonstrator, with BAE systems. The Space Power Optical Charge unit is a LASER powerbank which adapts to any customer, and serves as the building block for our pioneering in-orbit powergrid.

GEO-SATELLITE RESCUE

Satellite rescue is where our operations will start. If your geo satellite has known power issues, our power beaming technology will be ready in waiting to act as a second sun when it’s needed most.

GEO-SATELLITE LIFE-EXTENSION

By the start of the new decade, SPACE POWER will help extend the lifecycles of geosats by approximately 33% – or 8 years. This will not only help to reduce the amount of space waste in our atmosphere, whilst also minimising the cost of operations.

LEO-MARKET ENTRY

By allowing us to take on the burden of power supplies in space, client spacecrafts are able to maximise their volume to focus on the value generating components. They will be given the freedom to maximise their performance – higher resolutions, more frequent data, and novel instruments.

INTERPLANETARY MISSIONS

Our LASER power beaming technology can work anywhere – including lunar bases and asteroid. As such, our aspirations are to serve Lunar and Martian missions, driving a circular space economy to Power Beyond.

+ ABOUT US +

SPACE POWER was founded in 2019 with one not-so-simple objective: revolutionize the space industry’s power grid.

The story begins with our founder, Keval Dattani, an ex-Rolls Royce manufacturing engineer who was facing a bit of a conundrum. Back in the mid-2010s, he was on track to become an engineering lead in the development of the next generation of submarines. Undoubtedly a long-term, high-profile task, but one which raised some questions – namely: would submarines still be strategically important by the time the project was complete, or, would there be a big shift of industry focus elsewhere? As Keval himself puts it, he didn’t want his career-defining piece of work to be rendered a mere “chocolate teapot” by the time it hit the water.

So, having kept an eye on the space industry and the opportunities it was increasingly offering, he started campaigning for Rolls-Royce to look beyond the horizon and up to the stars. Unfortunately, his rallying cry fell on deaf ears. But, when one door closes, another one tends to open, and as it turns out – this would be Keval’s lightbulb moment. It was time to go all-in. All-in on his own company, and his own ideas.

Having spent plenty of time studying the space industry, the one idea which he couldn’t shake was this: what good are all our high-tech satellites and spacecraft if there’s not enough energy to keep them running? You can have the best data-capturing payloads known to man, but it means nothing if you can’t reliably power the vessel they’re transported on. With that in mind, SPACE POWER was formed. Then, after meeting some like-minded souls at the Techstars Space Hackathon in London, Keval’s one-man band evolved into a team with enough momentum behind it to really get moving. The rest, as they say, is history.

SPACE POWER’s unique patented LASER beaming technology, which has blossomed since those early days, has the ability to turn missions once thought impossible into the projects of reality. Offering satellite life-extension; lunar missions; LEO satellite cluster optimisation; asteroid mining support and much, much more, our services will enable quicker, better-informed progress for humankind. Plus, longer-living satellites should result in decreased manufacturing of replacements and less space junk in our atmosphere. So, we’re doing our bit for the health of the environment too.

This is the dawn of an exciting new future pioneering the space powergrid. Join us to become part of it.
